An Inspiration…

Last night i got a very nice message on Facebook.

It was from a father of a young triathlete. He told me that I was his daughter´s big inspiration and that she was my number one fan.

It was very touching. I’m very happy and proud that i can inspire young girls to do triathlon.

Here is a picture of my Number One Fan 😉 Rachel! (the little girl in the middle)

A weekend full of activities…

My weekends tend to be filled with training and races and this one was no different.

Saturday morning started with a 4km swim followed by a 3h bike ride with series in Z5 (fast and hard)

In the beginning of the week i was feeling quite good and i was recovering quite well from my race in London. However this weekend i have been feeling quite weak and been struggling with the heat….35 degrees today.

Thank god i had my team mate Carlos pushing me up the hills on saturday.

Stopping to refill the water bottles in a small village.

Saturday evening André and i went to see Sporting play. They played against a team from north, Rio Ave. Sporting didnt play that well and the game ended 1-1.

The schedule for today, sunday was 60km bike + a 10km run race. Its a nice race that i did last year. It starts in Carcavelos and ends in Cascais.

I did 30km before the race together with Sporting´s Junior team.

During the warm-up my legs were feeling very heavy and i was tired after yesterdays workout. I knew it would be a challenge to get through the 10km. I was right! it was terrible. I think i never suffered so much during a running race. The legs didnt want to move and i was struggling with the heat. A top 10 finish was the result.

After the race i still had another 30km bike to do. So, Benek (another team mate) and i headed back home on our bikes….ouch, the legs were hurting.

I truly hope it gets cooler soon, a bit tired of this heat.

One month to go and a dream might come true…

Back to normal routines

One month is missing of the season and maybe ill do 2 more races. One race is confirmed, the final of the national championship on the 12th of October.

There is one more race, but its not yet confirmed. I’m on the start list, but we are waiting for the confirmation. If ill race that race a big dream will come true…

This is big, that’s all i can tell you for now 😉 as soon as i know if im in ill let you know…

New sponsor on board :) COMPRESSPORT

Triathlon is a very expensive sport and the more support we can get, the better.

I’m very happy to announce that i have a new sponsor, COMPRESSPORT Portugal on board 🙂

They sent me a message on FB after the World Champs asking if i could consider to be sponsored by them.

There were never any doubts, I have many of their products at home.

COMPRESSPORT is a high-end quality product with a medical background.

Back to normal routines…but

Today i almost feel like a small super star 😉

Was contacted by 2 companies that want to support me with material in the future and they called from the Portuguese federation and did a small Interview for their press release.

I know some of you cant understand the context, but it feels great that they appreciate my 7th place 🙂

Happy, Happy

Back in Lisbon…

Im back in Lisbon after a few amazing days in London…

We spent our last day in London walking in Hyde Park and we made a short visit to Harrods.

I have been reflecting over my race and as promised here is a race review with some reflections.

We woke up at 4:30 am sunday morning as i would start at 7:25 am. It was cold and dark outside. We left the hotel at 5:30am and it couldnt be more than 8 degrees outside.

As i was only racing in a swim suit i had bought a tight sport shirt the previous day to protect me from the cold.

I entered the transition park to check my bike and leave my running shoes. It was a beautiful morning in Hyde Park and i was looking forward to the race, i was feeling ready.

Mum and Dad were there early and exited to see my race.

It was time…

The swim had been cut to 750m due to the cold weather conditions. This didnt bother me at all. I was actually quite happy that they had cut the swim.

The swim went quite well and i was the 7th girl out of the water. The run to the transition park was long and i managed to pass some girls.

I did a good transition and i was out on the bike. After 5km i was among the leading group. The race was a non drafting race (you couldn’t ride in a group). But i would say that the rule was not quite followed. We were 6 girls in the small group leading the race. I made sure that i was in front when i passed mum and dad 😉 The bike course was absolutely amazing. We passed Buckingham palace, down towards Tower bridge. They had closed down the main streets of London just for us, WOW!!

I was feeling very good on the bike, the 40km passed very fast. I did an average of 37km/h which gave me a total time of 1h05 on the bike. When approaching T2 i knew that the medals were going to be decided during the run…

I was the first girl to enter T2 and i ran as fast as i could to my spot in the transition park. My feet and hands were freezing. It took some time to get my running shoes on. Eventually i managed and i headed out on the run…

We were going to run 3 laps around the Serpentine. When you start the run after the bike you can almost tell directly if you will be able to do a good run or not. On sunday my legs were feeling ok, but i didnt have the perfect flow and i knew that it would be hard to reach the medals.

I kept a steady pace till the end and as you already know if finished 7th out of 77 girls which im very proud of 🙂 The girl that won did 35´50″ on the run and i knew that no matter how fast i would run she was out of my league.

Im not there quite yet!

Run Hydepark

So, conclusion! I did my very best and im very happy with my result! 🙂

The days in London were simply amazing a memory for life…
