Tack Svenska Triathlonförbundet!

I started my triathlon “career” in Portugal and as i have double nationality i have always represented the Portuguese National team. During all these years i have had very little contact with the Swedish federation and no exposure in Sweden which is normal as i dont race there.  My friends and family follow what i do down here on blog…

It  was a true honor when the Swedish triathlon federation contacted me asking if they could do an interview with me.

The interview was published today!

Its a wrap…

Season 2016 has come to an end….

It could not have finished in a better way with a Victory at my first track race at the bike festival in Tavira. Racing on a track was scary and so much fun at the same time. The atmosphere was amazing and we had good fun with Sportings professional cycling team.

warming up with the professional cyclist Rinaldo Nocentini, that is riding for Sporting this year. He had the yellow jersey in Tour de France back in 2009…respect

This season didn’t start with head wind in my back. A knee surgery and some bad racing in the beginning of the year made me doubt if i could accomplish with what i wanted for this season. The head wind turned to tail wind and i accomplished more than i was expecting..

Victory at the International long distance race in Lisbon, 2 gold medals at the AG Europeans in Lisbon, Victory at Cascais long distance Triathlon and a bronze medal at the Nationals in cycling. I could definitely  not have asked for more…

I guess it shows that six years of full dedication, well during all my free time, has paid off. Hard work and dedication always does in the end…I might have missed out on some stuff due to my dedication to triathlon, but i never regret it for one single minute. Its worth it!

Full Speed on the track…

There are so many people that have been supporting me this season that i want to thank. A big thanks to my coach Andre Campos and my great team mates. To Comcorpus clinic for recovering my knee after the surgery and that has kept my body and knee in top shape to be able to do what i love. To Spiuk and Prozis for providing me with great products. To my family, godmother and friends. It was very special to share all these moments with you…

Thank you, Tack, Obrigada

Now its time to get some well deserved rest…

” It was my best season so far…”

12 seconds…

Was the difference at the finish line. The difference that made us lose the gold and become Vice-National Champions, bloody 12 seconds…

Everything was going according to plans.

I was the weakest swimmer on the team and i went out hard from the beginning. Out on the bike the strategy was for me to push the 20km flat out, so i did. I dont know if i explained how the time trial works, but all elements has to swim, bike and run together. The other teams had around 6-7 elements, but we were only 4 from the beginning and Monica would drop of after the swim, so the three of us that were left had to finish…

My face shows how i felt…

I must admit that i felt the tiredness from the half Ironman last Sunday, but out on the bike we were gaining time on Rio Maior and Alhandra. I was afraid that i was going to pay the hard bike on the run… so i did!

Heading into the second transition everything was still going as planned. We were leading, Alhandra in second and Rio Maior in 3rd. We had to win, Alhandra had to be second and Rio Maior 3rd for us to win the overall title…seemed easy

Finishing the bike…

I was feeling crap as of the first step i took of that run. My legs were burning and i was so damn tired. With one lap to go on the run we were still in the lead, but we didn’t manage to keep up and we lost the gold by 12 seconds…12 seconds.

Heading out on a painful run…

The finish line…

Its frustrating, but i know i left everything i had out there…Nevertheless i also know that we didn’t lose the gold on Saturday, we should have secured it on some earlier stages this year. The National Championship is raced over 6 stages and all are equally important to secure a title…

Next year we will be back and we will get that title…
